Description

The Lodge is an early to mid-19th century west lodge originally associated with Kentchurch Court. Constructed of sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and Welsh slate roofs, it is rectangular in form and designed in the style of a crenellated gatehouse. The central two-storey block features a crenellated parapet and a two-light casement window to the first floor. The ground floor is pierced by a tall, Tudor-arched gateway, forming the entrance to the drive. Tall double gates, with a grid pattern resembling a portcullis when closed, feature within the gateway. Flanking the central block are single-storey sections, also with crenellated parapets and two-light casement windows. Later additions have been made to the rear of the lodge.
