Description

The granary complex and adjoining barn, located approximately 20 meters east of Treribble, date from the early 18th century and include a 17th-century section of the granary, with the barn from the 18th century having been altered. The structure features a mix of materials, including part sandstone rubble, part timber-framed with brick infill, part weatherboarding, and part 20th-century cladding. The granary has a 20th-century asbestos roof, while the barn has a pantiled roof.

The granary complex is U-shaped, with later lean-to extensions on the western sides of the north-west and north-east wings, and the barn adjoins further to the east. The granary is divided into two sections: the western section has four bays with a forward projection wing that bears a datestone from 1715 in its west gable end, while the eastern section has three bays with a central three-bay forward projecting wing and a slightly higher ridge level. Both sections are two storeys tall, featuring cambered heads on two doorways and a central window on the stone north gable end of the west wing. There is a similar doorway and a wooden mullioned window in the central square-panelled timber-framed section. The eastern wing is clad in weatherboarding and has three rows of loop vents on the west gable end, along with an inserted window opening and a ball finial at the apex. The trusses in the eastern section include two queen struts to the collar, and both gable ends of the wings have V-struts. The barn consists of five bays with a central threshing floor and inclined strut trusses. The eastern section of the granary complex may incorporate an earlier barn.
