Description
Woodhouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely has a core dating back to the 15th century, but it was extensively remodeled during the 17th and 18th centuries, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building features part timber framing on a sandstone rubble plinth, with later additions also made of sandstone rubble. The roof is tiled, with part of it hipped.
The farmhouse has a three-bay hall that is aligned northeast to southwest, with the southeast side facing a fold yard. There are cross-wings at both ends, and additional minor later additions to the northeast cross-wing. It has a main axial stack and another stack at the junction with the southwest cross-wing. Entrances are located to the right of the hall range and at the southwest gable end.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a cellar. On the southeast front, there is a 3-light casement window in the gable end of the left cross-wing, and to the left of an elliptical headed door on the ground floor, there is a 2-light window. The hall range features three 2-light casements. There is a doorway right of centre with a penticed porch and a ledged door. The gable of the right cross-wing has been removed and is now hipped. To the right, there is one 2-light casement window, another similar window, and a doorway in a later addition.
Inside, the farmhouse has been altered but still retains two cruck trusses from the former hall range.
