Description
Whittocks End is a farmhouse that dates primarily from the 17th century and 19th century, though it likely has earlier origins. The building features a timber frame that is mostly covered in brick or sandstone rubble, with slate roofs that are mostly hipped. It has a U-shaped plan with projecting wings to the south and stands two storeys high. The facade has a window arrangement of 1:2:1, with a gable front that includes a tripartite glazing bar sash window on the ground floor and a sash window on the first floor. The central section has three 19th-century casement windows under segmental heads, along with a central glazed early 20th-century porch and a four-panelled early 19th-century door. The right side of the building features an open lean-to covering an entry on the left side of the projection. There is a small area of exposed timber framing at the rear of the main range. Inside, the right part of the main range has heavy longitudinal stop-chamfered beams in the ground floor ceiling that extend for three bays, as well as collar trusses with two supporting posts from the tie beams.
