Description
The headstones in the churchyard of the Church of St Andrew, located at the angle of the south transept and chancel, date mainly from the 18th century and are primarily made of slate.
- One headstone is made of limestone, shaped, and almost illegible, dating possibly to 1717 or 1722.
- Another is a shaped limestone headstone from 1726.
- There is a rectangular headstone featuring a round-faced winged angel, dedicated to William Simon Senior, son of William Simon by Barbra his wife, who died in 1713 at the age of 50 years.
- A rectangular headstone with a moulded surround commemorates Ann, the wife of Thomas Goodacre, who died in 1747 and is signed by Sparrow.
- Another rectangular headstone displays two round-faced winged angels and raised letters, honoring Robert Simon, who died in 1732.
- Lastly, there is a rectangular headstone with a round-faced winged angel dedicated to Sarah, the daughter of Robert and Ann Simon, who died in 1728 at the age of 3 years. This headstone also mentions a son, Robert, in raised letters.
