Description

Manor Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse built for Nathaniel Curzon. It is constructed of red brick with an ashlar plinth and features a plain tile roof, with a single red brick stack on each ridge. The gables are brick coped and include kneelers. The building has a double depth plan and a gabled entrance front that is two storeys high plus a garret, with three bays. There is a first-floor band and a band over the first-floor openings. The central doorway has a panelled door, a 19th-century ashlar lintel, and an open wood, brick, and plain tile porch. On either side of the doorway are single sash windows, and above are three cross casements. All ground and first-floor windows have flush wedge brick lintels. Each garret contains a single casement under a segmental arch with a keyblock, and above each is a band of raised brick and dentil.

To the right, set back, is a two-storey plus cellar, two-bay wing made of red brick with ashlar and plain tile, featuring a right red brick gable stack and a first-floor band to the left single bay. There is a single arched brick cellar opening in an ashlar surround, with a single cross casement above and two similar casements above that, all with flush wedge brick lintels. Inside, there is a dogleg staircase with 17th-century turned balusters. The original manor house was demolished by Nathaniel Curzon in 1719, and this new house was constructed in its place.
