Description

The summerhouse at No. 16, located on the south side of Long Acre in Bingham, was built in 1831. It is constructed of brick, which has been rendered and whitewashed. The building is designed in the Gothick style and features a gabled and hipped slate roof. The design incorporates a plinth, a moulded coped gable with kneelers, and dentillated eaves. The summerhouse is square in plan. It has Gothick casement windows, and the north gable contains a central, glazed, pointed door with Gothick tracery and a moulded architrave. Above the door are quatrefoil panels, and above those, a shield is inscribed with the date ‘1831’. Three urns decorate the gable. The east side of the summerhouse has two casement windows. The building is listed for its group value.
