Description

The Poplars is an early 18th-century brick house located on the east side of Main Street, Cropwell Butler. The house has a low-pitched slate roof, a sawtooth brickwork eaves cornice, stone gable copings, and brick end stacks. The symmetrical facade is three bays wide, with a central door featuring six fielded panels and an overlight with gothic glazing bars, sheltered by a small wooden hood on moulded brackets. Flanking the door are single 16-pane sash windows with raised sills and stuccoed lintels incorporating raised keystones; small wooden hoods have been added to these windows. The first floor features three 16-pane sash windows within moulded cases. A lower, four-bay wing extends to the rear at a 90-degree angle. The interior of the property has not been inspected.
