Description

Scarrington House is a farmhouse with adjoining service wing and stable range, built in the early to mid-19th century. The structure is made of brick and coursed rubble, featuring an ashlar portico. The roofs are a mix of gabled and catslide styles, covered in pantiles and slate. The building has a brick plinth and modillioned eaves, while the stables have dentillated eaves. It stands three storeys high with three bays, and the two-storey rear service wing forms an L-shape.

Most windows are glazing bar sashes with rubbed brick heads. The southwest front features a central Doric portico with a dentillated cornice and a wrought iron balcony railing. The entrance has a reeded round-headed doorcase with a fanlight and half-glazed door, flanked by single sashes. Above this, there are three sashes, and above again, three smaller sashes. Each gable has two round-headed casements.

On the southeast side, there is a late 20th-century gabled porch in the return angle, which includes a round-headed casement. To its right, there is a round-headed sash and a Yorkshire sash, with a casement, a round-headed sash, and another Yorkshire sash above. Further right, the adjoining brick boundary wall has a brick coping and a door with a segmental head, along with a 19th-century lead pump featuring a timber case and stone trough. The stables to the right have openings, mostly with segmental heads, including an off-centre elliptical opening flanked by single casements and single doors. Above, there is a Yorkshire sash to the left and three different casements to the right, along with a loading door. The rear of the building has a catslide roof.
