Description
The Limes Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations and a mid-19th century addition to the rear. It is built of brick and features a steeply pitched plain-tile roof with gable copings on square kneelers. The left side has a later end stack that rises from a projecting chimney breast, which is corbelled out at the first-floor level, and there is an off-centre ridge stack. The eaves are decorated with a dentil cornice. The addition has a slate roof with one ridge stack and an end stack on the right side.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a band between the floors. The former front elevation facing the road includes a first-floor brick band and a large central stair window, flanked by two smaller casement windows on the left and one on the right, all featuring 20th-century glazing. There is also a small window on the first floor. The garden front consists of the single-bay gable end of the main range on the left, which has a bipartite window on each floor, and the two-bay 19th-century addition set at a right angle, which has two bipartite casements on each floor. At the junction of the two ranges, there is a doorway with a hood supported by shaped brackets. Inside, there is a contemporary staircase with flat, wavy balusters.
