Description

Nos. 6 and 8 Park Lane is a house that has been divided into two residences. It dates from the early 17th century and likely incorporates materials from an earlier structure. The building is constructed of dressed coursed rubble and features a slate roof. The right gable has a rubble stack, while the left gable is topped with a single orb finial. The house is set on a chamfered plinth and has two storeys with four bays.

The entrance includes a part-glazed door with a single recessed panel above it. To the left of the door is a single glazing bar cross Yorkshire sash window, followed by another doorway with a plank and part-glazed door and a larger similar panel above. On the far left, there is a single glazing bar cross casement window. Above these, there are three similar Yorkshire sash windows. The right gable features a small carved human head.

At the rear, there is a large external rubble stack located in the center of the rear range wall. Inside, the property has large chamfered and moulded beams along with a single stud partition. No. 8 boasts a notable late 16th-century two-tier ashlar chimney piece, which includes ornamental pilasters with Ionic capitals. The overmantel is panelled and flanked by panelled pilasters, with a frieze that features cabled fluting. Historically, it is believed that there was a monastic grange on this site belonging to Repton Priory, known as Repindgon Grange, and locally referred to as "Hobgoblins."
