Description
65 Main Street is a cottage dating from the mid-17th century. Originally timber framed, it features whitewashed brick and a thatched roof. The building has two rendered and red brick ridge stacks, and the gables are made of red brick with coped tops and kneelers. It is a single storey plus attic structure with six bays. From left to right, the front includes a single tripartite glazing bar casement window, a doorway with a 20th-century door, a single glazing bar Yorkshire sash window, a small glazing bar casement window, another glazing bar casement window under a segmental arch, and a tripartite glazing bar Yorkshire sash window under a segmental arch. Beneath the eaves, there is a small glazing bar Yorkshire sash window. In the attic, there are four eyebrow dormers; the left two have single glazing bar casements, while the right two have single casements. Visible remains of the timber frame include a single post, remnants of a post and rail, and a wall plate that is broken by the window openings.
