Description
23 and 25 Kirkgate are two houses that have been converted into a shop. They were built in the late 18th century and underwent alterations around 1925 and again in 1989. The buildings are made of brick with stone details and have a faience shopfront topped with a slate roof. Features include a second-floor band, cogged and dentillated eaves, and single stacks on the side wall and gable. The structure has three storeys and a five-window range of segment-headed plain sash windows, with five similar flat-headed windows above. The full-width shop front is designed in a Classical style, featuring pilasters, a cornice, and a recessed central doorway flanked by double windows with overlights, all beneath a fascia added in 1989. To the right, there is a blocked entry doorway with a faience lintel and a parapet.
