Description

The farm buildings at Ivy House Farm consist of a barn and two adjoining stables, dating from the late 18th century and 19th century. They are constructed of brick and feature steeply pitched roofs covered in pantiles and concrete tiles. The south gable is tumbled coped with kneelers, and the east gable has a pediment. The eaves are cogged and rebated. The structure is L-shaped, with a total of 16 bays and varying heights of one and two storeys.

On the ground floor, the openings have segmental heads. The barn includes a single bay addition from the 19th century on the north side. The east side features a reduced barn door with a smaller door inserted to the left, which is flanked by four slit breathers on the left and three on the right, arranged in three tiers. To the right, there is another reduced barn door with a sliding door, next to a diamond breather and a stable door. Above this section, there is a pitch hole to the left and two diamond breathers to the right.

The stable to the north has six bays, with a casement and two doors on the east side. To the south, there are two casements flanked by single stable doors, followed by a single casement. The two-storey stable to the east has five bays, with four casements alternating with three doors on the south side. Above this section, there is a door on the east gable. The south gable has three tiers of four breathers and a pitch hole with a segmental head above.

On the west side, the left gable has a central door flanked by single metal casements, with another door to the right and a blocked opening above. To the right, there is a 19th-century single-storey addition, with a door to the west and a casement to the south, both featuring timber lintels. Further right, there are two pairs of barn doors with timber lintels and stone imposts, separated by three tiers of three breathers. To their right, there are three tiers of four breathers. The barn is supported by a strutted principal rafter roof with collars and double tenoned purlins.
