Description

27 and 29 Westgate are two houses located in Southwell, built in the late 18th century and early 19th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of brick and feature hipped and gabled roofs covered with slate and pantiles. They have cogged eaves at the front and a single side wall stack. The buildings are two storeys high and have three irregularly spaced Yorkshire sash windows with segmental heads. In the center, there is a close boarded door, and to its right, a half-glazed door, both flanked on the left by ogee-headed shoe scrapers. To the left of the central door is an early 19th-century bow shop window, while to the right is a mid-19th-century two-light shop window with a wooden surround and cornice.
