Description

Lowdham Railway Station is a mid-19th century railway station, likely designed by architect T.C. Hine for the Nottingham to Lincoln line. It is constructed of yellow brick with some ashlar detailing, featuring raised ashlar quoins. The station has a slate roof adorned with decorative bargeboards and two yellow brick ridge stacks.

The building consists of a single storey plus attic and is arranged in five bays, with the rightmost bay being a single storey and the second right bay gabled and projecting. A slate lean-to hood extends over the ground floor left three bays, supported on the left by a portion of wall and two wooden posts. The left bay projects, while the front and right walls are made of wooden planks.

To the right, there is a single glazing bar fixed light and a chamfered doorway with a partially glazed door. The side wall of the projecting bay features a chamfered doorway with a vertical panelled door. The front wall includes a single storey, single canted bay with a parapet and a tripartite cross fixed light, flanked by two similar single light fixed lights. The right side wall has one similar single fixed light, and on the far right, there is a two-light fixed light. Above, a gabled half dormer contains a two-light casement, and in the gabled bay, there is a single cross casement.

The road front showcases a single storey, single canted bay with a stone slate roof and a tripartite cross fixed light, flanked by two similar single lights. To the right, slightly set back, is the side wall of the lean-to with a blocked chamfered doorway, while to the left, there is a lean-to porch with a chamfered arched entrance. All openings are framed with raised ashlar quoin surrounds. Further left, set back, is a single storey wing with a single glazing bar sash.
