Description
This is a pair of early 19th century cottages located on Southwell Road in Lowdham. The cottages are constructed of red brick with rendered bases, and have hipped slate roofs with single red brick ridge stacks. Each pair comprises two storeys and four bays. Each has two segmental arched casement windows flanked by single segmental arched doorways. Most windows have glazing bars, though the window in No.10 lacks the segmental arch. The doorways have plank doors. Above the ground floor are two glazing bar casements, with No.4 featuring a Yorkshire sash window. Single-storey red brick extensions with hipped slate roofs are attached to Nos. 4, 6, and 8 and set back slightly. A sunken, decorative 19th century brick pavement extends for 27 metres in front of the cottages and is included in the listing primarily for group value.
