Description
Merevale is a house located on Station Road in Lowdham, built in the early 19th century with later additions in the 19th and 20th centuries. The house is constructed of red brick and features a hipped slate roof with wide eaves and a single ridge red brick stack. It has two storeys and two bays.
To the right, there is a single modern projecting bay with two glazing bar sashes. Adjacent to this is a single glazing bar sash that has a rusticated wedge lintel and keyblock. Above, there are two similar sashes and lintels. To the left, set back, is a single storey wing, which is No.2 Southwell Road, listed separately.
The south front has two bays and includes a later 19th-century gabled porch with bargeboard and an arched entrance. The inner door is panelled and glazed, featuring an overlight and a rusticated wedge lintel with keyblock. To the left of the porch is a single glazing bar sash, with two similar sashes above, all having similar lintels.
To the right, set back, is a late 19th-century extension that is two storeys high and has two bays, with a single red brick stack on the front left. Each floor has a single similar sash and lintel. The house is approached by a footbridge that crosses the Cocker Beck, which borders The Green.
