Description

Attic Discoveries and Garden Bookshop is a house, shop, and attached workshop dating from around 1770, with early and mid-19th century additions. It was altered around 1960. The building is constructed of brick, with the front colourwashed, and features stone dressings and pantile roofs. It has stone and rendered plinths, cogged eaves, and two gable and a single ridge stack. The front and workshop windows have segmental heads and the structure has three storeys plus garrets, with a three-window range.

The front features plain sash windows, with smaller glazing bar sashes above. There is a central segment-headed six-panel door with an overlight, flanked by plain columns and a cornice. To the right is an early 19th century wooden shopfront with a glazed two-leaf door and a shop window with glazing bars. To the left, there is a single plain sash window. The left gable has a blocked window to the garret. A mid-19th century two-storey rear addition is present. The attached workshop, which was partly demolished around 1960, has a gabled and hipped pantile roof and is two storeys high with a six-window range. The outer windows are small-paned casements, and to the left, there is a cart opening and a door flanked by single 20th century casements. To the right, there is a glazing bar sash flanked by single doors, all with segmental heads. Inside the house, there is a late 18th century winder stair, altered in the 19th century, featuring stick balusters and octagonal newels.
