Description
Second Chance Boutique is a house and shop located on Church Street in Southwell. It dates from the late 18th century and early 19th century. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a hipped concrete tile roof. It has a rendered plinth, cogged eaves, and a single rear wall stack. The windows are primarily late 20th century casements with glazing bars. The building has three storeys plus a basement and features a three-window range, with the second floor windows being smaller.
On the ground floor, there is a central moulded wooden doorcase with a dentil cornice supported by scroll brackets, which frames a 20th-century door and a plain overlight. This is flanked by single windows. Below and to the left, there is a 19th-century half-glazed door leading to the basement. The right end of the building, facing the street, has an early 19th-century shopfront with a fluted wooden surround, featuring a half-glazed two-leaf door to the left and a three-light shop window to the right. Above this shopfront is a tripartite glazing bar sash window with a keystoned head, and above that, there is a dummy Diocletian window.
