Description
Montague House is an early 19th-century house located on Church Lane in Syerston. The building features a rendered exterior over red brick, with some areas of ashlar. It has a slate roof and two red brick gable stacks, each with two diagonally set shafts. The gables are raised and have ashlar coping, while the eaves cornice is moulded and includes a low parapet. The house is set on a plinth and has single pilaster strips at the outer angles.
It is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with the central bay slightly projecting. The central doorway has a panelled and part-glazed door, flanked by single reeded pilasters and brackets that support an open pediment. On either side of the doorway are single glazing bar sash windows, with three similar sashes above; the central sash on the upper floor is smaller. All the sash windows feature painted wedge lintels and keyblocks. At the rear of the house, there are two-storey wings.
