Description

Linthwaite Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage with extensions added in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of red brick with a pantile roof, and features red brick stacks on the left gable and a single ridge. The left-hand four bays display dogtooth eaves and a first-floor band, indicating their early 18th-century origin. The cottage is two storeys and five bays wide. A closed and gabled porch of 20th-century red brick and plain tile has been added to the front, incorporating a panelled door. To either side of the porch are single Yorkshire sash windows set within segmental arches. To the left of the porch is a small glazing bar casement window, and to the right, a single glazing bar sash window. Above are four similar Yorkshire sash windows. The right-hand single bay has two 'S' tie plates. A lean-to extension has been added to the rear of the building.
