Description
Numbers 3 and 4 Meadow Cottages are ornamental estate cottages built in the mid-19th century. They are constructed of coloured brick with buff brick and ashlar dressings, featuring steeply pitched patterned plain tile roofs with decorated ridges, designed in the Gothick Revival style. The cottages have a plinth and two large grouped ridge stacks set diagonally. A cogged band runs along the first floor. The buildings are two storeys high and consist of two bays in a T-plan layout. Most windows are glazing bar casements.
Number 4, located on the left, has lean-to and flat-roofed additions with a door on the north side. The west front showcases two canted leaded bay windows flanked by single doors, each with gabled bargeboarded hoods supported by curved timber brackets. Above these, there are two large bargeboarded gables, each featuring a hipped oriel window on a moulded corbel, along with three casements. Each end of the cottages has a casement with a hood mould, and above it, there is a corbelled oriel window. The double gabled rear wing has two casements on the east side and four casements above.
