Description

Hilliars, now a shop, was originally a house built in the late 18th century with a rear addition dating to the mid-19th century. Constructed of brick, it has a hipped plain tile roof and a gabled slate roof, with cogged eaves and a single ridge stack. The windows are glazing bar sashes, and the ground floor openings have segmental brick heads. The building is two storeys high and originally comprised six bays. The front, facing Westgate, has two windows, with the right-hand window being smaller. To the right of the front door is a window, and a part-glazed panelled door with overlight. The left side of the building, facing Bishop's Drive, has three blank windows. A set-back single-storey addition is visible beyond this, alongside a 6-panel door in the return angle. Inside, the staircase features stick balusters and a moulded handrail.
