Description

The railway viaduct, possibly built in 1819 or 1847, was restored around 1990. It was constructed for the Mansfield to Pinxton railway. The structure is made of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings, much of which has been renewed. It features five round arches that are separated by pilaster buttresses, complete with wall ties and an impost band. The keystone of the central arch is dated 1847. The viaduct has a plain parapet with flat coping. Originally built for pre-locomotive traffic around 1819, it may have been altered when locomotive traffic was introduced in 1847.
