Description
Unwin's Mill is a disused cotton mill located on Lucknow Drive in Sutton in Ashfield. The building dates from the late 18th century, with additions made in the mid-19th century. It has been reduced in height and remodeled in the early and late 20th century. The structure features dressed stone and brick, with slate gabled and hipped roofs, and early 20th-century north lights. The mill has a square plan and is two storeys high, with eight bays across its width. The windows consist of various 19th and 20th-century casements. The north side displays regular fenestration and includes a loading door on the left. The west end features 19th-century casements with segmental heads, most of which are blocked. To the left, there is an ogee-headed carriage opening flanked by single blank quatrefoils, and to the right, the remains of a similar carriage opening. A square factory chimney, made of stone and raised in brick, was added in the 20th century.
