Description
The gates, gate piers, and flanking walls to the east drive at Newstead Abbey were constructed in 1862 by C. A. Buckler for F. W. Webb, showcasing a Renaissance Revival style. They are made of dressed stone and feature moulded ramped and stepped coping. The central area includes a pair of spearhead gates, which are flanked by smaller matching gates set within four-centred arched openings. There are four octagonal piers with plinths and traceried ogee caps. The curved flanking boundary walls each have a simpler octagonal pier and extend approximately 200 meters in length.
