Description

The Elms and the adjoining water pump is a house built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick with a rough cast finish and features a hipped slate roof. The building has a rendered plinth and includes two roof stacks and a single rear wall stack. It stands two storeys high with a square plan and three bays. The windows are primarily glazing bar sashes.

The front of the house has a central porch supported by square piers, topped with a cornice and parapet, and is flanked by single sash windows. Above the porch, there are three additional sashes. On the south-west side, there is an off-centre, canted two-storey bay window with a hipped roof, which has a 20th-century French window and is flanked by single plain sashes. Beyond this bay window, there are single tall sashes, and above, five sashes are present.

The rear of the house features a sash window on the left and a casement window on the right, with two sashes above. On the north-east side, there is a Yorkshire sash window flanked by a 20th-century casement and a barred casement to the left, and two sashes to the right. Above this, there is a casement and a sash. The return angle includes a Yorkshire sash and a door, with two sashes above.

An off-centre recessed bay contains a timber-cased lead pump with a stone trough. The interior is said to feature moulded cornices.
