Description
St Anne's War Memorial is a war memorial that was unveiled in 1920. It features a stone cross designed in a late medieval style. The memorial includes a Latin cross-head atop a slender hexagonal shaft, which is set on an elaborate hexagonal plinth adorned with late Gothic-style canopies on each panel. Surrounding the plinth are three flying buttresses positioned equidistantly. Bronze plaques on the plinth list the names of 140 individuals who fell in the First World War and 13 from the Second World War. Above these plaques, the inscription reads: PRO NOBIS GLORIOSA PRO PATRIA IN VITAM PRO MUNDO SEMPITERNAM SUMMA INIERE AMANTES FORTITUDINE AMATI MORTE. The plinth rests on a three-stepped hexagonal base.
