Description

The Laneham War Memorial, designed by Sharpe and Hoggard of Retford, was unveiled in 1922. It features a 2-meter high obelisk made of Scottish granite, which stands on a flared plinth atop a two-stage base that carries the memorial inscription. The inscription reads: "ERECTED TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN FROM THIS PARISH WHO ENTERED INTO REST HAVING FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918" followed by names.

The memorial is enclosed by a small area that includes a one-meter high stone-coped, whitewashed wall at the back and iron railings with a central gate at the front.
