Description
No. 114 on Bridge Street is a hotel that was formerly the Royal Rib Restaurant. It was built in 1905 by A.H. Richardson. The building is constructed of brick and features a slate roof, with ashlar dressings, a moulded band and cornice at the first floor, dentillated eaves, a parapet, and a balustrade. There is a large panelled gable stack and a smaller rear gable stack. The structure has three storeys and three bays.
The facade includes an entry on the left with a single rusticated pier. To the right, there is an early 20th-century shopfront that features a central recessed door flanked by single windows. Above this, the central bay is recessed and has four Ionic pilasters on either side. The first floor contains three casements with glazing bar overlights, shouldered architraves, and segmental pediments on consoles. The upper floor also has three casements, but with plain overlights, moulded architraves, and pediments on consoles. The flanking bays have dentillated broken pediments, and above these is a curved parapet. The central bay features a balustrade. This building is included for its group value only.
