Description

Lower Spital Farmhouse is a late 18th-century brick farmhouse. It has a double pile plan, with a narrower rear wing. The house is two storeys high and four bays wide. The facade is finished with concrete pantiles and topped by two brick ridge stacks. A panelled door sits within an ashlar surround. To the left of the doorway is a sash window with glazing bars, set beneath a segmental arch; to the right is a fixed light window, with two smaller glazing bar sashes completing the ground floor. Above, three glazing bar sashes are similarly arranged beneath segmental arches. A mark on the left side of the doorway suggests a possible earlier extension.
