Description
The barn at Hall Farm is a 17th-century structure built with a timber frame and a pantile roof. It features a coursed squared rubble plinth, with brick and rubble infill that is mostly rendered. The barn is single storey and consists of seven plus two bays, although it was originally longer.
On the north front, to the left, there are four 20th-century casement windows and a close boarded door, along with two stable doors that have overlights, flanking a single casement window. To the right, there are five casements arranged over two levels. The west gable includes a close boarded door and a single casement, while the rear elevation has a 20th-century sliding door on the right side.
Inside, the barn has a post and truss structure supported by tie beams. There are five complete jowled bay posts and the upper parts of the remaining posts, with 14 posts featuring angle braces. The roof is constructed with heavy principal rafters and two purlins. Notably, the framing of the two western bays is separate from the rest of the barn. Additionally, there are two boarded partitions located between the tie beam and ridge in the central bay.
