Description
This is a walled garden associated with Wallingwells Hall. It is likely of historic origin, though the date is not specified in the listing. The garden is constructed of coursed rubble with quoins and an ashlar coping, forming a quadrangle. An east-facing doorway features a wooden door, an ashlar surround, and a keystone. Inside, a stone with an incised cross is set into the north wall near the base; local tradition suggests this marks the approximate burial place of Dame Margaret Dourant, the second prioress. A lean-to structure of coursed rubble, with an exterior concrete lintel, is located at the south west corner. An east wall section includes a single stone block with worn decorative moulding.
