Description

A mid-19th century gatehouse range incorporating stables, a dairy, and a coach house, with mid-20th century additions. The building is constructed of coursed and squared rubble with gabled slate roofs, ashlar dressings, and chamfered plinths. It features moulded eaves, shaped coped gables with kneelers, 6 ridge stacks (two of which have octagonal stalks), and a single external gable and side wall stack. The architectural style is Jacobean revival.

The building is two stories high and arranged in an L-plan. Windows are mainly cross and mullioned casements, and doors have chamfered four-centred arched heads, most with hood moulds. The west side includes a carriage opening with an arched head, flanked by two keystoned round-headed double doorways. A gabled gatehouse is positioned to the right, featuring a moulded archway, a clock within a quatrefoil panel above it, and an octagonal lantern with a wind vane above that. Single doors and casements flank the lantern. Further to the left are two casements, followed by a casement flanked by single doors. To the right are two doors alternating with three casements. On the upper level are 10 gabled dormers and 6 casements. A projecting wing to the right has a gable with a single casement on each floor. A return angle includes a door and two casements. The south side has a gable with a casement on each floor, and a projecting gable with two casements. A single-story wing is located to the right again, featuring two parallel ranges with a bay window flanked by a casement and a door. The north side has three casements and a door. The east side displays an off-centre gatehouse with an arched opening and wrought iron gates. Above the gatehouse is a panel displaying Arms. To the left is a canted, two-story hipped bay window, followed by regular fenestration with six casements. To the right are six casements and two doors. Beyond is a coach house with an off-centre arched opening, flanked by a casement to the left and a casement and door to the right. Inside the gatehouse archway is a moulded, panelled ceiling with arch braces on corbels.
