Description
The White Hart Hotel is an 18th-century building located on the north side of Lord Street. It is constructed of red brick and features a machine-tiled roof. The hotel stands three storeys tall, with a slightly projecting central section that has three windows. The first floor includes a wooden oriel canted bay window, which is adorned with a panelled frieze and a parapet. There is a modillion cornice above.
The central carriageway is elliptical arched and includes impost blocks. On either side of the central section are two-window wings that have moulded blocking cornices. The first-floor windows have cill bands and a central parapet. The side windows are sashes set in reveals, featuring voussoirs and flat arches with raised keyblocks, as well as hung sashes with glazing bars. The central windows have raised rendered flat arches and triple keystones. The building has a rendered plinth.
The White Hart Hotel, along with No 51 Lord Street and No 1 Church Street, forms a group of buildings of architectural significance.
