Description

The Church of St Thomas is a parish church constructed from heavily weathered ironstone, with origins dating back to the 12th, 14th, and 15th centuries, and alterations made in the 19th century. The church features a late Norman south doorway, which has thin shafts and three rolls in the round arch, and is protected by a deep gabled porch. The nave and chancel were built around 1300 and include a Perpendicular style west doorway and an east window. The tower, added around 1405, is also part of the structure. Significant restoration work was carried out in 1862 by the Diocesan Architect James Fowler.
