Description
The George Public House is a late 18th century and 19th century brick-painted public house located on George Street. It is two storeys high and features a pantile roof, built in three sections. The first section, dating from the late 18th century, consists of one bay with a lower window that has 24 lights and a segmental arch made of brick voussoirs. Above this is a 12-light window, and there is a cellar opening below. The second section, from the 19th century, has two bays, a door with four panels and a rectangular fanlight, and a large ground floor window with a stuccoed transom, mullions, and surround. Above this are two sash windows. The end section features a depressed stucco carriage arch, another large transom and mullioned window, two sashes, and two blind windows above, all with segmental arches of brick voussoirs.
