Description
The Little House and 2 pumps is an early 19th-century house located on Hackthorn Hall Drive. It is constructed from squared limestone rubble and features a hipped slate roof with lead dressings and three ridge stacks made of yellow brick. The house has a two-storey, three-bay front with bracketed eaves. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with a three-paned overlight, flanked by single glazing bar sash windows. The first floor has three similar windows, and all openings have splayed segmental heads. Inside, the principal rooms contain contemporary fireplace surrounds with circles in the angles and decorative cast iron grates. At the rear and side of the house, there are 19th-century water pumps housed in wooden casings, complete with lever handles, lead spouts, and stone troughs. The Little House was built as the Dower House to Hackthorn Hall.
