Description
The Old Barn is an 18th-century barn that has undergone some alterations and additions in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a pantile roof. The barn is single storey and includes an attached cross wing, which is likely a remnant of the earlier Hackthorn Hall. The front is irregular with three bays, featuring a central full-height opening flanked by single breather slits. To the left, there is a 19th-century planked door and a two-light sliding sash window, both with timber lintels. Inside, the barn has an 18th-century clasped purlin roof and original ties. Additionally, there is a further 18th-century three-bay wing attached to the side and a lower 19th-century three-bay stable wing at the rear. The stable wing has a central stable door flanked by single glazing bar lights with segmental heads. The 18th-century range at the rear includes tall 20th-century double doors, a 19th-century door with an overlight to the left, and a hinged glazing bar window to the right.
