Description
The Old Rectory is a building that has been converted from a rectory to a house. It dates from the 18th century, with some early 19th century and 20th century elements. The structure is built of stock brick and red brick, topped with slate roofs featuring a single gable, ridge, and both projecting and rear stacks. The eaves are decorated in some areas. The building is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys plus a garret.
The south front has eight bays, with a polygonal three-bay projection on the left that includes a low central glazing bar sash. To the right, there are two glazing bar sashes. There is also a single early 19th century bay set back far to the right, featuring decorated eaves and a glazing bar sash. A two-bay 20th century extension is located further back to the right and includes 20th century casements. The upper part of the projecting bays has two glazing bar sashes, while the right side has three glazing bar sashes.
The west return features a partially glazed doorway with a rectangular overlight, along with irregular fenestration from the 18th and 19th centuries. A 20th century addition is present at the rear. The Old Rectory is included in the register for its group value only.
