Description
Monson Free School is a former school building that dates back to 1876. It is constructed from rock-faced limestone with ashlar dressings and features a plain tiled roof. The building is single-storey with a three-bay front and has lower hipped porches at either end. It has a plinth and three tall windows through the eaves, which have hinged lights and weatherboarded gables above. On the right side of the front, there is a stone inscription that reads 'Monson Free School founded 1678 by Sir John Monson', accompanied by an emblem above it. The porches at both ends have battered bases and central planked doors with rounded heads, flanked by single fixed lights. The gable ends feature circular windows with fixed semi-circular leaded glazing bar lights designed in a classical style.
