Description
The Post Office and Village Forge is a shop, house, and forge built in the early 19th century, with some minor alterations from the late 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble with red brick dressings and features pantile roofs with two gable and a single ridge red brick stack. The two-storey, three-bay house has a brick dentillated eaves course and a central late 19th-century gabled porch made of red brick, topped with a slate roof and bargeboard. On the right side, there is a plain sash window, while the left side has an opening with a shutter and a single top-hung window. The first floor includes a central glazing bar sliding sash flanked by single plain sashes. The single-storey forge has 20th-century planked double doors, with a glazing bar sash window to the left. All window openings are topped with red brick segmental arches. This building is listed for its group value only.
