Description

Eve House is a late 18th-century house with alterations from the mid-19th century, located on the north side of High Street, Reepham. The house is constructed of red brick, with sections of limestone ashlar and limestone rubble. It has a pantile roof, featuring a central ridge stack and two gable stacks. The rear gable has been tumbled.

The south front has a prominent large central dormer window with a round head and a leaded light casement, flanked by single gabled dormers with sliding sashes. The building is in an "L" shape, with a three-storey bay to the right. The front has a first-floor band, a second-floor band in the bay to the right, and decorated eaves. A mid-19th-century canted bay extends to the left and contains a doorway with a large, bracketed pediment, a broad, plain doorcase, and double, partially glazed doors. Single round windows flank the doorway. An ashlar first-floor band is above, continuing the brick first-floor band that runs across the earlier 18th-century bays on either side. Mid-19th-century rectangular bay windows flank the doorway, each with narrow side lights, and a broad central plain sash window. A fourth bay to the right has partially glazed double doors. The canted bay above the doorway has a central plain sash with a swan-necked head and a raised ashlar keystone. This window is flanked by single narrow plain sashes, while the canted bay is also flanked by single plain sashes. Moulded ashlar eaves and an iron balustrade sit above. A single casement window with a wedge brick lintel is on the right, with a smaller casement window above it, also with a wedge brick lintel. A brick parapet extends above, featuring cruciform decoration and battlemented corners. The rear of the building features some limestone rubble.
