Description

Glebe Farmhouse is a farmhouse that may date back to the late 15th century, with alterations from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. It features a timber frame, coursed ironstone rubble, render, and a pantile roof with one brick coped gable and four brick stacks, one at the left gable end, while the right-hand stack has been demolished above the ridge. The layout includes an open hall with a cross passage and a cross wing parlour block, with a later 19th-century house added to the left.

The earlier part of the building consists of a two-storey structure with a garret, featuring two bays that are advanced under a gabled roof at the left end, and a single-storey hall block now used for storage. The parlour block is rendered and has a first-floor band. The ground floor has two 19th-century timber cross mullion casements, while the first floor has two 18th-century glazing bar sashes and a single glazing bar sash in the garret. All openings have segmental heads. The hall wing is rendered stone with two glazing bar sashes and a long blank wall. The gable end is made of ironstone with brick quoins and a tumbled gable. At the rear, one timber bay post of the original frame is still visible.

Inside, the open hall has been floored in the late 18th century, and the roof has been renewed. A moulded tie beam is visible, marking the cross passage. The 19th-century brick two-storey, three-bay wing to the left features a slightly advanced bay with a half-glazed door in a semi-circular opening of three recessed orders, along with two plain sashes to the left. Above the door is a plain sash, and to the left are two 19th-century mullion timber casements.
