Description
Court Leys Farm House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. The roof is made of pantiles and includes stone kneelers, stone coped gables, and ridge and gable stacks that have moulded cornices. The building has a T-plan and is two stories high with a three-bay front that includes garrets and a cyma moulded eaves cornice.
The central entrance consists of a glazed panelled 19th-century door set in a plain surround, flanked by single four-light windows with ovolo moulded mullions and moulded cornices. On the first floor, there is a central two-light mullioned window, with three-light mullioned windows on either side, all featuring moulded cornices.
Inside, there is a moulded 17th-century doorcase with an eared surround, likely from the original front door, located in the wall between the hall and kitchen. In the former kitchen, a chamfered beam with complex stops can be found. The roof structure is made of oak and is of the run-through butt purlin type.
