Description
The barn at Holywell Hall is an early 18th-century structure built of ashlar stone, featuring a stone-coped slate roof with one hipped end. It has an L-shaped plan and is a tall single-storey building with a two-bay front that includes a plinth and rusticated quoins. The entry bay is advanced and gabled, showcasing tall double planked doors set within a pointed archway that has imposts. Flanking the entry are triplets of narrow breathers. To the right, the hipped end bay has two planked openings with splayed ashlar lintels that include keyblocks. The rear doorway features a plain segmental stone head. Inside, the roof is constructed with staggered butt purlins made of softwood and includes arched collars. Notably, tally marks are inscribed on the reveals of the inner doorway.
