Description
The barn at The Elms Farm is an early 17th-century structure that has been altered in the 19th century. It is built from coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar bands, quoins, and dressings. The barn has a steeply pitched pantile roof with raised stone coped gables. The front is single storey and consists of a single bay, with a central planked door set under a timber lintel, which is located in the blocking of a wider full height opening. This door is flanked by single vertical breathers. To the right of the barn, there is a later 19th-century lean-to shed, and to the left, there is a lower three-bay 19th-century waggon hovel. Inside, the barn features a clasped purlin pegged oak roof with five bays.
