Description

The Old Rectory is a former rectory, now a house, built in 1693 and raised and altered in the early 19th and 20th centuries. It features coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, a Collyweston slate roof, and single raised moulded stone coped gables. The building has a T-plan layout, is two storeys high with attics, and has an irregular three-bay front.

The entrance is off-centre, featuring a six-panel door with a plain overlight, set in a panelled wooden surround with angle paterae and a narrow hood. To the right, there are two two-storey canted bay windows with hipped Collyweston roofs, which contain glazing bar sashes on the sides and fixed two-light windows. On the first floor, there is a two-light glazing bar casement and a small 20th-century fixed light, both with timber lintels. The roof has two gabled dormers with two-light glazing bar casements and slate hung cheeks.

To the left, there is a two-storey single-bay service wing with a single red brick gable stack. This wing has a three-light plain casement on the ground floor and a similar 20th-century window above, both with timber lintels. The lower window features planked shutters. The right side of the front has an early 19th-century panelled door and overlight beneath a Tuscan portico. To the left, there is a single blocked 17th-century ovolo moulded mullion window on the lower floors, and in the gable, there is a similar window with a cornice and a datestone from 1693 in raised letters. The right side also has a lower service range with a single three-light plain casement on each floor and a 20th-century cross mullioned window on the ground floor only.
