Description

Two barns and an outbuilding at Towngate Farm date from the late 18th century and were restored in 1892, with alterations in the 20th century. They are constructed from coursed and banded limestone rubble with ashlar quoins, featuring roofs of Collyweston slate, concrete tiles, and pantiles, along with raised stone coped gables. The two barns are connected by a vehicular opening. The left barn has a lowered roof covered with concrete tiles, while the right barn features a pair of full-height double doors and an external flight of steps leading to a granary above. Attached at right angles is a lower outbuilding with a plaque commemorating its restoration in 1892. These structures are included for their group value only.
